One spatial engine behind every FieldWise app.

Rather than building maps as a separate feature inside each app, FieldWise is building a single shared Spatial Platform that stores, secures, synchronises, renders, analyses and exports spatial information once — while each specialist app presents its own discipline-specific map experience.

The platform is being built first for the professional apps and the Pro Hub GIS workspace, then extended to the FieldWise education apps in a later phase.

How it's rolling out

The same spatial foundation ships in stages, so the professional apps get a production-grade field GIS first and the education apps inherit a proven, stable platform.

Coming to the education apps

Once the field GIS foundation is stable, the same mapping, offline engine and layer catalogue extend to the FieldWise education apps — giving students and teachers the same reliable, offline-capable maps, scaled to the classroom and kept simple and privacy-first.

A project boundary, paddock, habitat polygon, heritage place, shoreline or sampling site exists once and is referenced by each specialist record — never copied between apps.

Shared map experience

The same MapLibre-based map canvas powers every app, so drawing, measuring, inspecting and layering feel identical whether you're in the field or the office.

Works offline

Collect, edit and review geometry with no signal. Field packages, tiles and datasets sync and reconcile when devices are back in range.

High-accuracy positioning

CoreLocation plus external GNSS adapters capture location, heading, altitude and accuracy against Australian professional coordinate systems, with full spatial provenance.

Layer catalogue

Government, FieldWise, organisation and client layers are discovered through one governed catalogue, with styles, legends, licensing and offline policy handled centrally.

Spatial security

Row-level security and server-side policies decide whether a user sees exact, generalised or no geometry — so sensitive locations can't leak through maps, exports, search or caches.
